Just out of curiosity since we all have probably seen many of these... Are these "orange peel" or blistering considered an error coin? I know some of my friends that bought some error coins online have gotten these as "errors", they asked me, I don't have an answer for them other than it is not normal coin appeal.

The picture is not orange peel. The orange peel effect is caused by dies being used so long their fields get flow lines on them. The bumby result looks like the surface of an orange. The photo above is simply showing trapped gas bubbles under the plating. This is very common especially on cents from the 1980's. Both orange peel and trapped gas bubbles are considered damage and not an error (unless you want to sell the coin on ebay).

Like rays coming out of the sun type lines? one for the learning curve, lol... the surface looked like an orange "skin" or peel to me so I associated it with that term... Thanks!!

I Finally found a pic of one... got it! It would be nice to put examples of errors or damage like this along with the terms in the Glossary....

Anything not intended to look that way is an error in one sense of the term. I wouldn't consider that appearance on a circulated coin to be an error, since it looks like the blistering you can create on clad coins by applying heat.
