What is the difference between a mint set, bank set, and proof set?

Talking about the sets that have the penny, nickle, dime, quarter, 1/2 and dollar in it.

Is their a factor that can be applied to one compared to the other?

Thanks
KC

Quote:
mint set
A set of Uncirculated coins from a particular year comprising coins from each Mint. (Usually, this term refers to government issued Mint Sets, although for many years, it has been loosely used for any set of Uncirculated coins from a particular year. Also, the government Mint Sets issued from 1947 until 1958 were double sets.)

A proof coin is uncirculated, polished and made with a treated die. They are struck twice, or more.

Mint sets contain coins that haven't been circulated and that receive no real special treatment before being packaged for sale.
