not a moderator, but sometimes if the image is referring to a file on your PC, you see it, others will not. Where are the pictures stored? edit: tried to look and it says Quote:The image " http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...10520_1.jpg" cannot be displayed because it contains an error. Not sure what this means.

I like the toning. Looks almost like it was painted/stained, then had part of paint/stain rubbed off. I do like it though.

I found the images, and I can comment on the toning.
It seems as if the coin has slumbered a long time, and gradually acquired the dark toning. At later times it seems that it has been handled somewhat, and the toning has been worn off much of the high points of the design, producing a (mostly) contrasting pleasing effect.
Ironically, if this coin had NOT been handled at a later date, it may well have been darker all over and not so worn on the high points. The overall very dark toning would have detracted, but the higher condition would have helped.
That's life!

The toning pattern and color do not look typical to me. My gut feeling it's either suffered some environmental damage or has been messed with somehow. Unless it were an exotic Overton variety of particular interest I'd look for an example that was more in my comfort zone.

Hmm...underlying color of coin is very white, as having been dipped then toning set in after been stored in an envelope or album. Just my opinion.

I really like the toning on this coin, at least at first glance. I too suspect the toning is artificial. I doubt there is a definitive test.
