I checked out Coin World to see if I can see a screen shot of their inventory tracking database for subscribers (couldn't find a screen shot). There was a sample issue available for browsing. The digital edition is huge with 200 pages. I was surprised at the number of ads in there. There seemed to be more ads than articles. What's the general consensus on Coin World? Is it a worthy publication? Or is it something you buy at the airport to help time pass on a long flight? -- Boris

My local library carries it, I like to look through it, but it really does have a ton of ads.

I use to have a full subscription (52 issues) but I just renewed last month and all I get now is the online issue and the monthly special edition mailed to me.

I have a 52 week subscription to Coin World and also agree that there are way too many ads. I also have trouble keeping up with the weekly issues esp. during the summer mos. Right now I have 6 unread issues on my desk. I am not sure I will renew. Is Numismatic News any better?

I subscribe to the online edition, I like the ads, that is a true indication of what is going on in the market.

It's funny, I don't like all the ads because I want everything, and I realize that I can't have everything. Then I think there are collectors out there that do own neat coins like those, and I feel sorry for myself. Emotional coin baggage...

I guess the ads are cool for the first few times but I imagine I would get pretty borer with them. The ads would certainly give a good indication of the market and current values but at some point I'm looking for news more so than market trends.

I would want to see more articles and fewer ads in there. Many articles in there are fun to read though.

I have one issue of Coin World. I, too, found that it is bombarded with advertisement. But at least it's geared correctly and it's not some laser spa treatment ads. They're interesting to look at, though.

I do not subscribe to it, but I will pick one up occasionally. Usually when I am in an airport.

Do you folks here prefer the paper copy or have you gone all digital with your magazines?

I don't get the weekly issues anymore, since I hardly ever read it cover to cover. The monthly issue is good, not bad subscription price of $19.99/12 issues. The great irony here is I read the articles online, and have the magazine for the ads! Reminds me of the old joke of buying Playboy for the "articles!"
