I found this in a roll and was psyched to finally find something cool. Is this a legitimate type 2 plachet? It's zinc. Thanks. Thanks for your input!

You found a cent planchet that was struck. In original condition they are collectable for less than $4 depending how bad some one wants one. With the stains it would decrease the value a lot!

A cent planchet that was struck would be a coin. This is un-struck.

I think you found something cool....
awesome find.......blanks or planchets are a tough find
I have found: 1 type 1 2 type 2's, in circulation.....
in comparison, I have found 2 '99 wams, so with my numbers, the planchets or blanks are almost as tough to find

The mint used to sell them as part of a beginners set that also had some uncirculated pennies satin finish dimes and a proof half dollar. They are tough to find, but i'd imagine the fact that at one point the mint was selling them has led to the lower price than other denominations planchets.

it could be to things it is rubbed or in the mint, the stamp could have had grease on it

No even if the dies were FULL of grease, if they struck the planchet it would be identifiable. And if a coin was worn down so the entire design was gone, that would be identifiable as well.

Grease Filled Die strikes have rims. This does not. It is an unstruck planchet. They are common. Value in this condition would be a dollar or so.
