This is the nicest silver George V coin I have (most of the others are G or VG) After spending an hour looking at professionally graded coins on ebay, I think it is EF-45, but I would like a second option. Yes, the coin was probably dipped as coin dip was like crack to my father *sigh*.

Too much wear on the robe, shoulder, chain and reverse leaves for EF45 IMO an EF example should have a lot more detail left in those areas It may be due to your photo

Is your photo a scan?, if, so you are not going to get an accurate grade, and if not you have a little too much light on the coin to tell. But, it does look EF-40ish to me, still a beautiful early .25 cents.

Thank you all for the feedback. Yes I used my scanner for these pictures. I can try to adjust the contrast, saturation, brightness, etc. The color looks a bit odd now, but the details are more visible. Is the coinoisseur's website a good grading guide?

Looks VF-35 to me... Pretty close to EF-40, but the old cleaning never does any good...

EF-40. Intact vertical pearls. Crown band only slightly rubbed. No wear on reverse crown.
1921 is very hard to get that nice, even if dipped.

Solid EF-40, too much wear in other places (including the reverse) for an EF-45, the scratches on the far right shoulder of the King does not help either. To me, the coin looks 'dipped to death'...

Nice coin for a 1921 EF 40 at best

I agree with XF-45, and this has taken a serious bath, how's the surface look IRL?

To me it is an Extra Fine, no doubt about it.

Gorgeous coin! Can't tell unless it's in hand whether it's dipped or not - lighting is always mischievous. Impossible to grade below EF. The date is notorious for its convex reverse and wear appears quickly. This one with a full, still well cut reverse is a gift.

Thanks for all of the second opinions. I certainly can live with XF40. I really appreciate all of the comments/feedback. I recently acquired a more common, but nicer George V quarter which relegates this quarter to my second nicest George V coin.

Borderline EF. Far too many scratches and rim nicks to accept a ICCS EF grade. My opinion only.
