Hey,

Please rate this coin on its grade and if you think it is an authentic coin w/r/t the mint mark etc.

Also tell me if removing the overall black/brown spots and reverse diagonal striations will increase its grade. If it will, please recommend a treatment assuming that I have already used 100% pure acetone with a soft bristle toothbrush.

thanks

I'd say it has VF details however, it has already been cleaned and it has corrosion issues. If it were me, I'd just leave it alone.

looks corroded and over-dipped... and I'm not talkin' acetone... You can't do it much more harm, use it as a trial piece, but I think it's past the point of no return...

Does everyone agree at least that the mint mark has not been altered or added later on etc.?

The mint mark looks OK to me. Nothing is standing out to make me suspicious of it.

Don't clean the coin. It is what it is. Unfortunately, it is corroded on the reverse, as the photo indicates. So, if sent in to a TPG, will come back as a high AU corroded.

AU details, corroded and harshly cleaned. Never use brushes on coins, they only make things worse. Too bad, it's one of the better S mint coins. The best thing you could do at this point is let it sit in a window sill for a couple of years.

Do you have a picture of it before you dipped and brushed it.
Just for the sake of learning I'm curious if you did it more harm than good.
