At first glance, the coins looks safe to me (there is nothing alarming to me)
Could you post its exact weight, plus pictures of the rim of the coin ? There should be two places where the pattern on the rim overlaps (stops) - could you as well take a picture of this, and tell us where on the coin it occurs ?

Hi MathieuMa, thank you for the reply!
I'm sorry, currently I don't have those information. I'll try to request these info. from the seller. But I don't guarantee I can get them soon.
Anyhow, comments based on the current pictures are welcome!

Shane, you're from China I see. If you are buying in China, be very, very careful. I live in China at the moment and have even managed to get a fake 5 yuan note, crazy! I've even heard of fake 1 yuan coins, that is how much forgery is going on!

Thanks to augsburger and EgCollector!
The seller of this coin is in Holland.
In fact, I do agree that it's necessary to be very careful when you are trying to make deals online, not only with Chinese seller. Because information given by the pictures is limited. What's more, neither buyer nor seller knows each other well.
On the other hand, the situation in China is not that bad.

Did you buy any pillar dollars from chinese sellers ?
If so, it would be a nice idea to post a picture or two of them here if you want them checked ;)
Don't forget to include the picture of the rim, as I said in my post.
I think I never got a genuine spanish coin from china - I got some genuine ones from HK though.

I have noticed similarites with my coin below to your posted one - more particularly on the "PHILIP.V.D.G.HISPAN" letters and the date 174_.

One sad thing though... mine was a counterfeit one... contemporary counterfeit according to the previous owner
We have been examining over the past years on these Pillar Dollars made available to the market nowadays... and counterfeits ones are beginning to look nicer and nicer except on the edge designs. Counterfeiters have not yet perfected it.
By the pictures of your coin, it should weigh at least 26.6 grams or a fraction thereof.
