This is one of the new (2008?) series of banknotes. Here's the back.

This is one with a different signature on the face but the back?

So is this a printing error? Any opinions?

I would say, "yes". Looks like they ran out of ink halfway down the note.

I forget the correct terminology for this kind of error.

How does the front of the note look / can you post an image?

Sorry for the lateness of my reply. Here's the face of the top one (with the normal back) and sig.

Here's the second one that has the printing error on the back and its signature.

Which has made me notice the ink smudge (top centre left of script). Which I think confirms Sap's thought.

Some refer to these as "gradual progression of under inking"

Thai, The reason I wanted to see the front is that IF a note is altered there would be some sort discoloration / strange things taking place on the opposite side of the inking issue.

Below is pic of one of my purchases which is under inked. On US notes this would have gone on for about 7 to 10 notes before the ink reservoir filled back up. (the reflection is my shadow as the note is in a pcgs holder).

Nice find / Pick up
