Hi,

I just wanted to determine exactly what what type of coin I possess here and whether or not it is authentic.

It does not stick to a magnet and weighs 0.45 grams using a calibrated scale.

Please also indicate what karat gold it is.

Thanks

The best example I can find of this turns out not to be good, a gold plated token....

Now then, I don't know if in fact if in 1853 if there may have been a real solid gold version of this piece, which I would guess is unlikely, but you never know....

I also noted the coin in the link above has a weight of 0.40 grams, an you said yours weighed 0.45 so this is real close to an exact weight match basically....

Unfortunately, it is not a genuine issue. A bear on the reverse or lack of denomination are sure signs of a replica.
Rest in Peace
