So today I was dumping some halves at my CU. When I lifted the shield, three big dollars were staring up at me, a 23' Peace dollar, a 72'D Ike and a 72' Ike. The machine does not take big dollars, and I guess someone dropped it in an never checked it before walking away. I have never found a silver dollar in the wild before, and of course the price was right. Here are pics.

Thanks guys. Ricardo, I also found a British Pound. This is by far the best I have ever found at the counter.

What a score

It amazes me that there are people out there who are numb enough (please note the word "numb" is not a typo!) to the world surrounding them that they would fail to notice the Peace dollar is something special.

Its good for us collectors though!

My dad used to empty coin machines back in the 80's and had a HUGE collection of "rejects". These were more often times than not older coins the machine wouldn't take and tried to refund but it slid off the track and ended up in the bottom. The first time it happened my dad tried to give them all to the manager, who waved him off and said "oh no, the books are closed" or something to that effect. My dad got the hint and never tried to give them back again. I remember he had an incredible collection of US and foreign coins, all from these machines, but we were robbed when I was about 12 and they took everything. Unfortunate but not the end of the world.
