I'm eventually going to start an Eisenhower dollar set and I'm going to get this album:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Dansco-8176-Coi...em3f09fd66cf

i usually don't include proofs in my sets, but ikes were minted for so few years I though it would be nice to have all varieties. anyways, my question is: what is the 40% bu? like what does the B.U. mean? and where it says 40% proof, were all of the proof ikes 40% silver?

why does this album below only say S and not 40% proof for the proof slots? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...9SE4fHc%253D

I hope you decide to do this set, I really enjoyed completing mine.

For Dansco the the
7186 is with out proofs
8176 with proofs

B.U. 40% coins are 40% silver brilliant uncirculated
( for Ike dollar, they are "S" mint coins)

The "S" mint proofs can be 40% silver or CU clad.

I think the whole set can be done for $200 or less, depending on grade and how good of deal you get on the coins. That is for a BU and proof set 8176.

On the 8176 there are four empty slots, how you fill
or not fill these can add to the price of the set.
I put a proof and UNC 1990 commemorative dollar in two
of the empty slots and two coins reverse side up in the other two slots.

To add to what Goldrush said:
'71-'74 proofs, known as "Brown Ikes" were 40% Silver. '71-'74 B.U., known as "Blue Ikes" were 40% Silver. The names "Brown" and "Blue" were reference to the color of the mint packaging. There were also 40% Silver proofs and B.U. coins produced for 1976. S-marked Cu-Ni proofs began production in '73.

All Ikes are avaliable in mint sets except '71 and '72 P&D. Those had to pulled from circulation. '73 P&D were only avaliable in mint sets.

Assembling a nice set of Ikes will cost more like $300.00. Finding them in good grades is tough.

The Ike dollar is a cool set to put together. Have fun with it!

If you haven't bought it yet, think about buying it here.

With shipping it equals about the same, but if you need anything else the shipping pays for itself. Also, you are guaranteed a new album in plastic.

Have fun with your IKE set, I'm still working on mine. Very fun.

valleycoin charges like $5 for shipping. unless I get more than 1 album I dont think its worth it. I saved money once on that site when I bought 4 albums.... but single albums I think I get cheaper on ebay.

Wizard Coin Supply has them listed at $16.89 plus shipping. I just ordered this plus 9 more Danscos from there and it was top notch!

I know they have $9.95 flat rate shipping on orders over $50 so it might be better to order more that just this one album.

I am working on this one as well. And definately more like 300 plus to complete the album with all coins being UNC and proof. I just cant see putting circulated coins next to the proofs.

I need 10 more coins to finish it off.

Anyone that knows me could easily guess that this is my favourite Dansco album. It is also the first one that I completed. You will enjoy this!
