Soooo ... I'm a bit over 5 boxes into my cent roll searching .... and having a blast hunting for errors, varieties, copper, wheaties, etc. Not ready to give up on my nickel quest .... but do admit that cent roll searching is a fun diversion. Pulled this well preserved 1998 WAM this morning ... #3 for me of the 1998 variety. I don't see any wear ... plenty of original mint luster ... some obvious bag strikes ... so I am going to call it MS63RB. Enjoy the photo ... David

Nice, I have searched tons of boxes and have not found 1 WAM. Living in TX we get mostly D mint coins. I wouldn't have any WAM's in my collection if it wasn't for the generosity of Scooby and Liveandievaritites!

Thanks for all the kind replies ... Keep in kind that I live on the Right Coast of the USA ... outside Baltimore, MD .... appx 80 miles south of the Philly mint. My statistics to date indicate that 89% of my Lincoln cents are Philly mint coins ... so in that regard I certainly have a much higher likelihood of finding the Philly varieties than someone living where Denver mint coins are prevalent. Not trying to bog you down with statistical mumbo-jumbo ... but the probability of finding one of these is determined by the the mintage ... and is the same wherever you live ... the likelihood of finding one is determined by the total number of Philly coins you see in your search ... and that is the advantage of living on the Right Coast. Soooo ... message to jokingjoker ... keep at it ... you will just need to search a lot more coins. Great fun so far with my cent searches! David

Quote: and is the same wherever you live .. I don't buy into that theory...you would have to assume that varieties are distributed evenly and that just is not the case.

Just south of Chicago and have found 20+ 1998 wams, 20+ 2000 wams, and 2 1999 wams. I'm a good drive from Philly! We're talking about 100's of boxes searched over the last couple of years, though! I think I got 5 total last month...4-1998 and 1-2000. I'll got a bunch of boxes at a time with no sign of one then I'll go and find one in like every other box. Just keep at it and you'll get lucky!
