Sorry about the small pics, still getting the hang of the resizing too *the upper right on the obv of the V-Nickel has got something going on* cracked die? If anyone needs a better pic of any I can give it another try.
afclassic87, I asked if it was cleaned, he told me they wouldn't have bought it or tried selling it if they thought it had been. Buttttt I like it and dont intend on selling it so I bought it. I bought it at an outa town shop, so I wasnt my normal dealer. Do you think I over-payed for it?
I don't know what you paid but if you like it then it must have been the right price. The reason I think it is cleaned is because the flat (lacking any toning) appearance and how the small scratches all seem to be going in the same way. It may just be the picture but based on what I see I would say it's cleaned.
The Barber quarter can not reach a grade higher than Fine. Both rails above and below "Liberty" must be visible in order for the coin to even qualify for a VF grade. The week strike in "Liberty", not all letters can been read easily. It appears to have some patina on the obverse which is nice. The reverse, worn Eagles wings, motto and claws on Eagle are extremely worn. I would have to grade this coin as a VG. It is not in the F/XF category at all in my opinion. The grayness of the coin also leads me to believe that it might have been cleaned in the past, there is no original mint luster from what I can tell from the photos.
