Hmmm....The planchet may have had a straight clip on that spot prior to minting, similar to a bitten rim, but straight, not curved.

Hang on to it until others give their opinions.

Unusual, well worth keeping. I have something similar, and I believe my example would bring around $50 at auction.

I'd call it a 'clipped edge'. Have a look at the links below, similar to yours, but a little different. Your 'clip' is a bit longer.

It could also be termed as a 'bitten edge', but to me, a bite makes me visualize a curved clip as opposed to a straight one.
