Has anyone heard or had experience of American Coin Club Grading Service. Marketed by Beverly Hills Coin Club by providing grading of both sides of a coin.

I haven't had any experience with them as I send my coins to ANACS and only trust PCGS or NGC in addition to them. ICG is improving also. Here is a link to a comparison between their grading and PCGS on the ACCGS website.

Thanks for the response. I know the the saying about buying the coin, not the holder. But from an investment point of view it seems there is a "general trust" that goes with PCGS and NGC coin holders. I don't know if that translates to dealers and buy/sell prices or not.

It definitely does make a difference in the price you will get from a dealer. There are some who will look at a top TPG graded coin and try to downplay the grade, but you will definitely get more for a PCGS, NGC, or ANACS slabbed coin than you would for a raw one or one in a lower TPG holder.
Rest in Peace

For once, an alphabet TPG seems legitimate. Their ACCGS domain is registered to the address stated on the Beverley Hills Coin Club's site and their information seems straight-forward.

This would lead me to the question of why hasn't ACCGS been more widely accepted as an alternative to PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG? I know it's tough to break into the top TPG market since they are well-established and highly competitive, but it seems ACCGS has some potential unless there's something going on with them of which we are not aware. I think I may have seen one or two ACCGS coins offered on ebay, but can't put my finger on what nor when. Perhaps it's a matter of volume - since ACCGS is apparently made up of volunteer graders, maybe they just can't handle a high volume.

Maybe the next PNG/ICTA grading survey might include ACCGS?

I have seen them and actually have one coin in their slab in my watch list. It is a coin that was in there the first time it was at auction and was a little pricey the first time and didn't sell, then they relisted it with a definate good buy starting bid and it does have bids on it now and even thought about bidding myself but I usually wait until the last few seconds to place my bid. The pictures are a little tough to tell if the grading is accurate but for the coin and the price it is at now, I have a note that it "may be worth the risk at this price". The seller has a whopping 2 feedbacks also which is also another reason that they are having a hard time getting bids but as I said I am planning on bidding on this particular coin (unless it shoots up in price) and take a chance

Susanlynn,

Those two coins in your link are pretty amazing! I can't see how PCGS would grade that coin the same as the ACCGS coin. The difference is amazing! Maybe it's the lighting of the picture, but the quality of the PCGS coin looks really sub-par compared to the other one. You just have to be careful on these kinds of coins. For a newer collector, you could lose you shirt on these things!! That's why I like the Heritage Auction site (in fact, I just looked at several of the VF20 coins and that PCGS coin is a crime!!). You can search their archives for similar coins and compare them, which at least gives you a little reference point to begin with. The more tools you have at your disposal, the better chance you have of getting what you think you are getting. That, and all the great advice form everyone here.
