I have this "junk bag" of things that were laying around my dressing area in the master bedroom. My wife has been complaining about it and that I needed to "do something" with it. I finally got around to it today and while shuffling through a lot of useless junk also found these: Who would have thought that in the midst of a lot of useless junk, real silver would be found! I didn't even remember having this stuff. Both were gifts that my wife bought for me years ago at a couple of merchant shows that she attended. I'm not real attracted to the subjects here, but hey, 2 ounces of silver IS 2 ounces of silver, right? And that is 2 ounces more than I thought that I had. Two more things to sell and convert into coins.

It's always cool going trhough a box of coins you haven't been through in awhile and realizing you had more than you thought!

Wow, 2 oz. of fine silver out of thin air, that is an amazing find, right under your very own nose .... The pieces there may not be as attractive as a shinny Eagle proof, but the history is great.... To me the bar represents the frontier and moving west, that exploring spirit of early America if you will. And Teddy lived an amazing life, and did many great things, great find!

Yeah, it was pretty amazing, considering how much REAL junk was in that bag. When I found the round and the bar, it was like "Whoa! Where did that come from?!". The pioneer piece has a pic of Mt. St. Helens on the other side and commemorates it's eruption on May 18, 1980... a day I remember well. The TR round is from a Teddy Bear show. My wife collected, bought, and sold them back then so got this as a memento of that show. Personally, I thought that TR was WAY cooler than the bear on the other side. He was an amazing man for sure. His support of the US National Park system was a tremendous help in securing that part of our heritage for future generations. We really enjoy visiting the National Parks and Monuments. They are very special. So far, we have been to Grand Canyon, Saguaro, Carlsbad, Mesa Verde, and White Sands. All were fascinating and great to visit. We hope to see a few more each year until we have seen all 58 of them plus as many of the monuments as we can.

I saw one of those original large Teddy bears sell the other day on th estate show, for seems like 1200, and he wanted 1700 to start. You just never know when something might be setting right under your nose that is worth big money to the right collector....

That's for sure, 'hawk. We collectors are a strange breed, alright. A lot of the value in something can be in just finding the right buyer.
