Hi,

Like a dummy when the commemorative nickels came out I bought a roll of each style, actually 2 rolls as I got p's & d's.

i was told they are bank rolls. they are white with some blue stripes at either end.

I'm thinking of breaking them to look for good stuff and don't have a clue whether I should or not.

i need to add a p.s.

i started collecting simply by buying bouillon to leave for my kids. unfortunately they will need the estate sooner rather than later. all of my bars and bouillon are purchased already and the coin dabbling has been for enjoyment only. I have no desire to leave the coins because I like playing with them and learning. so, holding nickel rolls are not an option. the small price stuff is my day trading. I actually just bought the latest red large print, black us and foreign books and 2 expensive currency books. I would get no greater thrill than finding an error or whatever in these nickels simply to gloat that I covered the cost of the books.

cliff notes:
99% of my coin interest and subsequent questions are looking for the "speculative" take. i.e. "hold on to those coins" is not what I want to hear please. I simply don't own anything of real value in coins that I want to pass down..

thx again all.

break the rolls .. not sure what you will find .. but would be nice to get a good error.

I get offered rolls westard journey nickels quite often at face value ..

I have a box of short rolls of ocean views that I can't find a buyer for ..

Most people that wanted some rolls of these have them

I agree, break the rolls. The fact is that you will never know what is really in them until you open it. So open them up and see what you have!

There is alot of error,s on the Bison and Ocean View Nickels.Coin World magazine in the month issue's would show pictures of them that I cut out and saved. Also check the web site Die Variety News. You can purchase all the issues on a C/D for about $20..

i found what to look for. thanks!

btw, when I said I bought the rolls 'like a dummy', I should have explained that the dummy thing meant I bought it on a 4am infomercial for MUCH, MUCH higher than $2/roll.

You bought the rolls off the TV so you have already lost your shirt on them. You can't get hurt anymore by opening them and who knows you might get that million to one shot find and actually break even.
