WOW! Great Job! That is a hefty hefty find!! Looking at least a $50 coin there.
As far as authenticating, well it doesn't have a P and I dont think the condition of the coin would have obliterated it. I don't know the markers either but a better picture would be nice to make sure it's not a greeser.

On ebay, depending on condition, it could be worth anywhere from 100 to 300. Picture is too small to gauge.

if it looks to be in good condition I might suggest sending it out to anacs for certification

How much does TPG submissions cost usually?

captainkurt: as for being a Greaser, I checked it under my glass again and again and there is definitely nothing. You scared me there with that possibility!

For anacs 15 day service: $19.00 plus $5.00 for the var. attrib. Add another 15 days turn around for that though.
Then you have your shipping which must be registered mail.
Pick your ins. and that is included with the postage. Then you pay anacs return shipping/ins. rate which is listed on the back of the submission form. You can download a form from anacs site but I like to get the originals from them. They are in triplicate and you keep one copy. They will mail to you at no charge.

Example: $200.00 valued coin.
19+5+13+19= $56.00 plus a few cents for your shipping supplies etc. Then you have to wait a month for it. At times
less.

$56 for a $200 coin? I'll have to think on that.
Thanks for the calculations indian1!

No, this is for a single. No min.
Think of it this way also. If you have a coin valued at
1,500.00 it is only about ten bucks more for the same service.
You just have to balance out the coins value ahead of time to see if it is worthwhile to spend the money on it. Or take a shot at insuring a coin for a large amount and hope it gets lost in the mail. Either going or coming.

My bad - you're right. That's for 15 day service.

The submission form I downloaded from their website said $19 for economy service with a 5 coin minimum with a max value of $500 per coin.
So, if your coin is worth more than $500, you can't use their economy option.

Just did a completed listing search on ebay, raw examples going from $80 to $185 and slabbed PCGS MS65 for $275 BIN, so I'm not sure it would pay to slab this one unless you feel it's a gem.

You'll be in for a rude surprise if it gets lost going since you won't be able to prove what it's worth :)

Thanks guys-I don't think I'll slab it-not worth the hassle. Maybe if I don't sell it I'll save it for a few years and see what the demand is.

Does anyone see the phantom P it off the 2 about 2clock the shadows formed a perfect P. Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees this.
Its larger than normal mint mark it looks like this
--->P,
1982
Disregard the arrow just couldn't get spacing correct.
Also anyone else see hidden messages on coins while searching for errors, variety's. Some times I can make letters and numbers, codes, whole words. At first I thought someone wrote a letter with a coin under the paper. But at times its so small, they person would have to be very skilled. I like to dream of the history it might of had. Secret codes written on coins that would be pretty cool,
No its not telling me to kill anyone Figured what the heck I cant be the only one seeing these letters and codes.
By the way NICE FIND!! Good Job. I've been looking for one for a while now. Great to see their still out their. Congratz

You are not the only one who sees this. I see it too. When I first saw it I rushed upstairs to check the dime again-but alas, no P. Just a light trick.
This pic should help.
