I just traveled about an hour from my house for a small vacation, and thought I would visit a coin shop while I was there. So, I looked on the online yellow pages, and all of them were antique shops with very few coins. I drive into town, and see a bill board for a coin shop called the coin shop. It made me so mad because I didn't leave early, so they were closed. Oh well, it's just money saved.

"Oh well, it's just money saved."

That is the way I view failed bids at auction. In retrospect, not a bad attitude!

Just to show a different perspective.

You guys say money saved. I say missed opportunities. If it is only an hour away I would plane another mini vacation a few weeks from now and drop by just to see the offerings the place may have. Plus it will give you time to stash away a little more cash for the trip.

I agree with Tim. Missed opportunity! You should definitely go back when you are able to.

Don't overlook also going to the local banks for customer wrapped rolls. Especially the local brands if it's an older small 1 horse town.

I used to make it a practice to carry boxes of rolled coins (searched already) to actually trade if they didn't have the quantity to spare selling me some.

Just an idea...

I bid what I am willing to pay (more at times), and if it goes beyond that, I figure someone else wanted it more than me.
