I only bought one coin today. I probably passed on a few I should have gone after, but I'm being a lot tighter with my coin-buying money these days. This coin seemed like a no brainer, beautiful, lustrous (you can't see the luster in the scan) AU. The rims have a bit of "oddness" going on. I'm not terribly familiar with Half Dimes of this time period, but I can tell you that what you are probably seeing is not damage. It's almost as if part of the coin rims (7-8 o'clock obverse) were struck over the reeding...I can't explain it any other way. The coin has not been messed with. The only possible rim anomaly that might be a minor hit is at the top of the reverse, but I'm not sure about that either.

Neat coin. I love the irregular, "handmade" look of the denticles. Can you get any significant magnification onto the reeding and edge detail?
