Destroying a few weapons hidden by a crazy dictator that may or may not be there, or one of the best preserved Roman cities South of the Mediterranean?

They need to weigh the pros and cons. I think if you have half a brain it is easy to determine what SHOULDN'T be done, but this is just IMHO.

Well it would not be the first time that the world has lost important historical sites to war.

This has been going on for centuries, would it not be nice if the human race learned form the past.

Just think what the temple in Jerusalem would look like, but not a stone left unturned.

It would be a sad, sad day to lose such a historic site in the name of war.

I don't know the situation over there and won't argue it...but if it comes down to human lives or freedom versus property, I'll choose the freedom or lives.

We have similar issues in the US. People try to save land to commemorate civil war battle fields.

  • If they are building a hospital that will be named after the battle field, I would like that.

  • If they are building a shopping mall that will be named after the battle field, I would be okay with it.

  • If they are building an office building with no reference to the battle field or its history, I would be against that.
