First post here on the grading forum!

This cent is from a fantastic collection from 1939 in Whitman boards. There is a thread in the classics section.

Any how, I have had some difficulty grading LWCs using the PCGS photograde. I noticed that the bust in photograde seems higher grade in Fine than Very Fine. It has better definition in the collar and hair than the VF that they display. http://www.pcgs.com/photograde/#/Lincoln/Grades

This particular coin has high wear on the bust, but seems to have a higher grade on the rest of the coin. What do you all think? My guess is FINE!

Thanks!

Believe your grade is "spot on"!

Thank you for sharing the hoard of original coin collecting boards. Definitely a VERY collectible find on their own.

acloco,

Thanks for taking a gander and your contributions!

The dull points on this coin, I think, take away from the sharpness of the strike.

No cheek/jaw separation, therefore F12.

I'd probably send that to NCS-NGC for conservation and grading. There's a couple verdigris spots that should be addressed ASAP. Whatever you do, DO NOT attempt to conserve the coin yourself. This is one best left to the professionals.

F-12, but only for those wheat lines. As an aside, funny how some of these keys have managed to circulate for as long as they have.
Rest in Peace
