What do you think. EF40 or 45 ?
Maybe a twin to my other 1858 SL
Only two more left to go after this one.
Another 57 and a 58 LL. Then on to the silver 3 cents,
Shield nickels, Half Dimes, barbers - dimes, 20 cents, Seated dimes, quarters, one bust Half Cent and an 1817 one cent.
Phew !
Thanks.

Looks just like my PCGS XF40. Wear on chest, neck, leg, tail, wreath...comensurate with an XF40 grade IMO.
Nice original coin IMO.

To me, I would say it's a PQ VF35, but just a little too much overall wear for me to call it EF.
Rest in Peace

Score is tied in the 3rd period.
Not trying to push it one way or another
but in hand under 10X the breast, leg and left feather (upper) curl as well as outline above the head)
show more detail and strike etc. than in the scan. As do the tail feathers. Also on the right wing tip. If that helps.
Having my 58 SL to compare it with side by side (both obv./rev.) it seems to lean towards a 40 overall. Not a great big deal anyway on the 2 grades as far as a premium but that may make a big difference to the future owner.
