Does anyone have info as to the value of an 1936 NGC MS66 F.S. 018.8 DDR EDS Buffalo nickel? My searches draw blanks. Is this the finest known? Where is market at for the real established Buffalo die varieties?
This coin looks like it should in the Cherrypickers book. Of course this coin was graded before NGC bothered to properly attribute die varieties. Any and all comments, or reference help appreciated. Thank you...Gusp

I am not sure why you are getting offensive, the only response was from me saying that evidently either NGC doesn't attribute the specific variety or they haven't graded any of them. Either way the best place to go to find out would be the NGC board and ask them directly because there is Nothing on NGC's website about this variety (they have many other Buffalo Varieties listed, but not this one, which is why your searches aren't finding anything)

For someone that has been collectinf for 50 years I would think you could answer your own question as to information on any coin and not post answers like this. For example have you tried jsut listing it on ebay to see what your offered? Have you checked to see if there are any coin shows in your area and take it there for evaluation? Have you tried to find any coin stores or hobby shops that deal with coins and asked there? Just because NO one is familiar with one particular coin does not mean there are no experts here.

what he got upset about was he asked about this same coin about a month before this, and at that time I searched everywhere I could think of to try to help and there is absolutely no record of NGC ever grading one of these coins or atleast never attributing one, so I told him that either NGC didn't attribute that specific type or they have never graded any. He was wanting to know if it was the finest known graded by NGC (even though his wasn't attributed either) so I told him the best place to go would be NGC forums and ask them about the specific variety and after that on the same forum there is a numismedia part and you can ask them about the value, which would answer both questions he had. And somehow he took this as an insult even though he had looked himself and found nothing just like I did, anyway I guess you just can't please some people all the time, maybe I should have just made up an answer and he would have been happy instead of telling him what I would do if I wanted the information he was looking for and getting the same results we both were having searching everywhere else. I guess he figured if he waited a few weeks he would get a different answer and when I told him the same thing he didn't like it very well and made the post above

Like I said if I knew he was going to get upset by my advice in asking NGC themself I would have made up an answer that may have liked better

Bryon. My comments were stupid and not directed at you. I got fed up with grading service nonsense and changes. In fact, I did as you suggested. It helped me to get the ball rolling. I thank you.

As to my remarks.. Well, I kinda lost it here over last few days. Had family member in ICU. I vented in the wrong place. Regardless, I have no excuse. I offer an apology to any and all that I may have offended. I was being an idiot. I do respect and appreciate this site and all of their effort in the pursuit of numistmatics, as well as all of your comments and help. Thank you... gusp
