Another great UNC modern silver commemorative dollar ... geepers ... you folks are tempting me to take up the series.

Great coin yotie and well presented ... she is indeed a beauty.

Sooo ... I have been doing some personal research on these modern commemorative dollars ... thinking that maybe someday I might enjoy them ... and have the following to share FWIW based on my learnings so far from books and the internet ..
This 2006-P UNC dollar had a net distribution of 58,000 coins ... as stated by yotie. This mintage is in the top 80% of my favored series of classic silver halves ... but still an impressive low number.
Obverse model was produced by Mint engraver Norman E. Nemeth ... his initials can be seen at 5:30 near the toe of Franklin left foot.
Reverse is fascinating to me ... Franklin's political cartoon "Join or Die" first appeared in the May 9, 1754 issue of his
Pennsylvania Gazette ... and was dealing with issues dealing with the French and Indian wars.
I suppose most folks assume the "Join or Die" motto was related to the upcoming conflict with the British ... but that was later to come. Note the 8 (count them) 'colonies' in Franklin "Join or Die" monogram.
Reverse was engraved by
Charles Vickers ... his initials appear at 5:00 near the end of the "Do or Die" motto.
Sooo ...
looking forward to seeing one of you modern commemorative folks post a photo of the complementary coin ... "Founding Father" dollar ...
That reverse has an image of the 1776 Continental Dollar ... and might very well be the modern commemorative dollar to push me over the steeeeeeeepppppp slllllippppeerrrrrryyy slope to collecting these.
