Bryan, a couple bucks shipping is not a problem at all. $3, $4, $5 + shipping isn't a problem either if that's what it costs to ship an item.

What I have a problem with is the first shipper charging $3.35 then drops a coin in an envelope with a 44 cent stamp. For $3.35 you would think he would have made more of an effort. As I've mentioned already, I am aware of the shipping cost before bidding and take that into account of the total price. I just like to get what I pay for. I have had coins torn out of envelopes as they went through the sorting machine before by careless sellers trying to get by on the cheap.

I've sold items other than coins and charged to ship the item exactly what the postage was. I wasn't looking to make additional profit like the first seller was doing. I've seen ebay sellers charge $4.95 to ship one coin.

Since I'm not a coin dealer or sell much of anything I tend to sympathize with the buyer's viewpoint. I'm sure if this happened to anyone, that person wouldn't be pleased.

I guess shipping charges is a sore spot for me since as I said I paid more for shipping that I charged and then they left a comment saying my shipping was to high. I would never send a coin someone bought from me in an envelope (but most of the coins I do sell are usually over $200.00 coins). I also always send with signature confirmation to protect the customer and myself, that way the postal worker can't just leave it on the front porch and anyone pick it up or any other situation you can think of where someone else gets the package instead of the buyer. I always mention the price of shipping and if they purchase more than one item and everything will fit in the same package I do not charge them one cent more than the first items shipping, and then when someone leaves a comment saying my shipping is unreasonable when it cost me 50¢ more than I charged them just really upset me, because it wasn't my price that was bad, it was USPS shipping that was so high

It's possible that the seller didn't know that the coin was cleaned. That would be why he didn't describe it that way.
