which is better x3 or x5? compareable as features and price is it worth spending a lil more to get x5?

I am going to be honest with you, I have a QX5 and am very unimpressed with it. Sure it magnifies where you can see stuff but I am in the process of looking for something better. I guess if someone wants something cheep that will just look at coins it does a pretty good job but it definately wasn't as good as I was hoping for. I know this doesn't answer your question but as far as features the only thing I think is different is the QX5 has lights which in my opinion are not that great, I would rather use an outside light source if possible anyway but if none is available I guess they do the job

so if I find an inexpensive x3 would it be worth it? 30-40 dollars

If I were you I would invest in a good digital camera with macro setting instead of the QX5. Here is some pictures of the same coin, one done with the QX5 and the other with a cheap digital camera with a macro setting (my lighting lacks alot to be desired but it was a quick snap of it to show the differences, if I took my time I could get closer and better detail but here they are

A Qx3 would produce the same kind of picture at 60x as the top picture I just posted, so if thats what you are looking for then sure 30-40 bucks isn't a bad price at all
