I've posted before about a 1922 3d I found with a raised mark in the shield. Today I picked up the second example, found at a coin fair. Perhaps a few collectors would enjoy seeing the two coins side-by-side? The second pic is horribly dusty--I'm keeping it in its 2x2 because it's going to a friend here.

I can see TWO raised marks on the shield of the coin on the left.

1. a line in the bottom of the shield
2. a small blob between the kangaroo's paws, on the side of the shield.

That makes these coins as pair very interesting, because they share the same line at the bottom of the shield, but only the left hand one has the blob.

The inference to be drawn from this, is that that they came from the same die and leads to the suggestion of progressive die breakup, albeit in the early stages.

Whatever you do, keep them together.

Looking at the coin on the left, does the 'blob' sel points out, actually continue obliquely as a 'bar' through the side of the large shield, down to the top right hand corner of the small inner shield?

I'm not sure about the blob, so I haven't commented yet. I will need to find and examine the coin.
