Knowing that this year was hihest production for the morgans I don't expect anything spectacular to shine through on these but the condition is quite good comparably to others. Should something like this be sent for grading or would it defeat the overall selling option? What would be grade to list these without over doing it and what would be realistic realization? Thanks as always.
Now I see why a few guys are selling all their stamps to get into coins!!

I would wait for SuperDave to comment on these before you decide but I don't think I would send them in for grading unless they are some type of special VAM and SD will be able to tell you about this

great pics for a new guy...I have to assume you aren't new with a camera!
Nice coins, but I don't think those '21 Morgans would be worth a grading fee... but there is always a chance I'm missing something.

New to coins but seasoned somewhat in stamps. Pics from scanner And my camera skills are seriosly lacking. I havn't even investigated cost of grading but assumed it would be in the same range as stamps at roughly $30 -$50 depending on company. Unfortunatly these are not mine or I'd be keeping them so I guess the biggest question is what is fair market price in this shape. I would hope its higher than melt even with the high numbers.
Rest in Peace

In a word, no.

Morgan Dollars - 1921

FMV Prices (Good-MS60)

G4 VG8 F12 VF20 XF40 AU50 AU53 AU55 AU58 MS60
35 35 36 37 39 40 40 41 41 44

FMV Prices (MS61-MS70)
MS61 MS62 MS63 MS64 MS65 MS66 MS67
46 48 73 100 219 940 13,130

The scrap value (scratched, dents, burns OK) is $26.50. $30 for slobbing means they'd have to be ms63 to show a small profit, and once you pay ebay 15%, it would still be a net loss.

I see no obvious features of any value-added VAMs on these coins. One thing you could do, though - stack all the 1921's along with another random Morgan if you have one, and look for a 1921 that might have the reeding spaced more widely than the others. The difference will be obvious, if it's there.

I would not slab it though I am very inexperienced in coin collecting. I just can't really see the upside in slabbing it, still a very nice coin.

Nice high end AU coins not worth slabbing. Somebody would gladly pay in the mid 30's in current market for each.
