Hi everyone,

I acquired this bill from a friend and I have had some trouble finding some prices on what it might be worth. Its in pretty good shape with some creases, but no tears.

I also think that there may be an error on it. Up at the top of the bill where is says " Or by like deposit" it is being overlapped by " Series of 1929:

Can anyone confirm this as an error? An d can anyone help on the prices?

Thanks!!

Pictures coming soon

Hi Laxmaster92, your description matches a genuine $50 Brown seal National Currency example, but will need a photo to confirm...the inscription "or of like deposit" is not an error, it continues on the right side of the portrait with the words "of other securities"

Here are the pics.

Fastfords, Do you see where it says "or by like deposit?" Now look at the word deposit and do you see where Series of 1929 is overlapping it?

Laxmaster, just an FYI, when linking to the photos in the gallery, use the permanent link under file information. Otherwise the images will change as you upload more photos...

Hi Laxmaster92, yes, noticed it...this seems to be the way the 50's were printed...my example from FRB Philadelphia is the same, and the illustration in the Friedburg standard reference "Paper Money of the United States" (FRB San Francisco illustration) shows the same overlap. Interesting, since the 5,10,20, and 100's don't have the overlap.

AS for ideal pricing, in Very Fine it is worth about $100, in Extra Fine about $150, but the markings on it will lower those prices...I could probably get one like it (with markings) for about $75 at the local coin shows. I am assuming, by the way, that there is a lot of crispness left in the note, which the photos seem to indicate.
