Hey all! I'm back and posting! I got back at around 12:00 PM today, and seeing as I had'nt slept at all since 5:30 AM the previous day, was quite anxious to go to sleep. I didnt wake up until about 6:00 Calgary time! In Ottawa I never had a chance to visit any coin stores (probably a good idea because I have recently been spending too much money for my own good) But instead toured the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa! Quite a fun experience seeing production first-hand, and lifting up a 30 pound, $300,000 pure bar of gold. Andrew

I have found tours of the U.S. Mint in Denver to be lacking. Hopefully the Ottawa Mint was much more interesting than I have found our mint to be. Closest we got to the coins themselves was peering through a plate glass window, looking down at the top of the minting machines. Holding that much gold is a fun experience. At the ANA Convention in Denver recently we were allowed to do the same thing. The bar we held was valued at close to one million dollars. I can remember seeing a pile of gold bars at the Denver Mint when I was young. It took quite a few bars to equal one million. Of course, then the value of gold was $35 an ounce.

Only Mint tour I've been through is the Carson City one, it was ok but I thought it was going to be better then it was. This fall I plan on going to Niagara Falls, Toronto (Hockey Hall of Fame) and Cooperstown, and would love to visit the Royal Canadian Mint.

Not me, as of now in regards to Canada I've only been in British Columbia, been as far north as Prince George(went to a hockey game) I want to go to Ontario in September so I hope that works out. My wife has been to Alberta however.

Cool. Do you live in Seattle (or Washington State for that matter)? Seahawks (as I said before) are my favourite NFL team.

Pattie, I live in a town called "Graham" which is close to Mt.Rainier, just a little east of Tacoma and south of Seattle. How about yourself?
