Looks like EF-45 or so for detail. I would need larger and much sharper images before considering a purchase. There may be a significant hit on the eagle above the right (facing) side of the shield. The coin might be cleaned but you can't tell from these shots.

Any $10 gold piece is expensive and the 1856-O is scarcer than most. The value justifies third-party grading, so why isn't this one in a slab? It is worth considering the question.

Well it's from a friend of mine who has a gold buying company. I purchased the coin in the link below from him and it paid off nicely. He told me I could get it for 850 and if I didn't like it for that price I could send it back and get a refund. I think I'm going to get it.

I remember that coin and you did indeed make out like a bandit on it. For $850 (with a guarantee) you can hardly go wrong. Please post some good photos when you have it in your possession. Looks like another great opportunity. Maybe you'd like to let me know if your contact has other coins you decline to purchase?
Rest in Peace

I'm sure it is there, but I can't see the mintmark from this picture. I would definitely need better pictures before buying this piece.

Cleaned 40. I think there are better fish in the sea. These can be had original and nice up to AU with very little premium over melt. Get a nice trouble free one. It will be easier to sell when you get ready to.

Much better pics, looks close to AU details, probably 45. The only thing that bothers me is that massive rim ding on the rev.
