Federal police have charged two Reserve Bank of Australia currency firms, Securency and Note Printing Australia, along with several of the company's former senior managers with paying massive bribes to foreign officials in order to win banknote supply contracts. In a series of dawn raids, AFP agents swooped on houses across Melbourne, arresting six former senior executives of Securency and Note Printing Australia, companies which are respectively half and fully owned and overseen by the Reserve Bank of Australia. ... I too was interested to read this in the papers over the past few days - kind of topical as I am currently reading "Heads I Win" - the David Gee story - I know they are different, forgery versus bribery, but it was interesting all the same. A favorite soap box topic of mine is my belief that all gov departments should be held to the same scruitiny and standards of reporting as publically listed companies - after all, we are all shareholders in them ;-)

I am not that much of a reader but read "Heads I Win" earlier this year. I couldn't put it down, it was fascinating.

yes, I finished it off in two days (and I have a wife and two young kids who demand all my out of work hours!) - I guess being a coin collector helps, and in my case, I live right near where many of the event took place. I was in M are Roberts store the other day (he gets several mentions in the book) and they had a lot of sovereigns for sale - I mentioned that I had just read the book and wondered if any of the sovereigns were David's and we all shared a chuckle...

Steve, its a very small world. I've spoken to Bob Roberts before about David Gee. Not only did Bob testify in Gee's court trial but Bob also was once the dance partner of Gee's wife. Bob said she was always prim and proper lady; but when she ran into Bob outside the court she was a foul mouthed vixen.
