OK first off - HOLY CRAP LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND! And secondly here's the story. I knew my in-laws had an old coin collection of my Father-in-law's father's, who passed away over a year ago. He told my father-in-law to take it and do whatever he wanted with it. Well my father-in-law has 2 brothers, so he's been trying to figure out how to deal with this collection fairly. So my father-in-law and mother-in-law have been wanting to know how to sell it and split the money. They've been asking me how they should deal with the collection. I told them I'd be interested in going through it and buying from them the coins I was interested in. I've also been watching coins on Eaby for them and keeping track of the going prices there and on Numismedia's FMV pages and other places, to give them a general idea. Most of the coins are in pretty poor shape AG at best, but there are, I'm sure some in there that are in the upper range of nice circulated coins, INCLUDING THIS ONE . So last night I find myself going through the wheats. I told them let me go through the wheats and I'd pay FMV for what I find. Thinking mostly what I'd find were the 40's and 50's that I needed. Well I found this one. Now I need to know what I should pay the for it. Now, this is a different situation than most, It's my in laws so I want to be more than fair with them, they are the best in-laws in the world, regardless of coin collections, and I want to treat them better than fair. Looking at Photograde Online, this coin to me looks to be in the VF to XF range. So first, I'm interested in other opinions about the grade\condition. Secondly do I just give them 15 bucks which is about what Numismedia values an AU at. All opinions invited and will help. Thanks!

Nice find! Looks about EF45 to me, I don't know if it makes AU. See what the Lincoln experts have to say.
Second, $15 seems about right if you want to be 100% fair. It may even be a little high.

rachums107 - thanks for weighing in. I agree that 15 might be a little high, but again I'm OK with that because I couldn't ask for better in-laws, and really his two brothers are great people too and I want them to know I'm trying to be as up front and honest as possible.
Thanks again for weighing in, it helps a lot.

Nice looking original coin. Definately should be in a collection, not in with common date wheats!

I would say if you are gonna sell the collection do on a site like this...Ebay charges so much! I recently sold a Metal Detector on ebay and was charged 19.00 in fees...then Paypal takes out a fee...I think my time with selling on ebay is over.
