I bought this coin on ebay and the seller said it was in AU condition. Either I'm a tough grader or this coin is not in AU state I was thinking more of EF-45 I say this because you cant see one of the diamonds. Though it does have some luster to it (not sure if the pictures will show it. Let me know what you think. Thanks Casey Parman

Close to AU in terms of wear, but it has a few too many marks on the obverse to be worth AU money. Also, it appears to have been cleaned at one time.

This is on the line between VF and EF IMO. I would probably call it EF40 details, but some may say VF. I really don't think it's EF45. Usually, there should be full diamond detail for that grade and I'm not seeing that here. The number of hits are also excessive and distracting. I also agree that it looks to have been cleaned and there appears to be porosity on the surface in a few spots.

Shot through the ugly tree, hit every branch.
Net vf at best, no way even au details.

I think what fred was saying is that due to all the hits on the coin, it is only worth vf money, and I tend to agree.

I also am leaning that way. The one think I love about posting my coins on here I can actually see a clear picture of what they look like I couldn't see any but 1 or 2 dings when I looked at it with my eye. I need to invest in a microscope.

Quote: what are signs for a coin that's been cleaned? I think it's been cleaned because of the color and the sheen it has. It may just be the pics, but it appears to have an unnaturally shiny surface.

i just use a desk lamp that might be causing the shine I will take some others later. if they look different then I will post them. The bad thing about ebay is all the pictures are so small you cant really see.

Wow, they definitely edited those pictures. The contrast looks way off and it may be overly saturated.

The editing may make it look cleaned. I agree alot of dings. Wear on the obverse: tips of feathers, above eye, hair on neck, hair below ear, just to name a few areas. On the reverse: horizontal lines in shield, leaves in wreath, arrow heads, ribbon around arrows. Now this is just my opinion, I agree VF money and XF-40 details. Again thats just my opinion.
