Hi again. I'm looking for confirmation on this variety and an opinion on the grade please before I send it in for certification. I believe it to be a 1909 "round leaves" "cross over bowtie" What say you?

Yup, C/B Round Lvs p[ictures are not of a high enough quality to give a grade IMO..

From the pictures I agree with round leaves and cross bow..From what I could find this is a very rare coin with only a handful know. Great find...

According to the trends, there is 'only 4 known', but even former trends editor Michael Findlay said that the knew of atleast 10 at the beginning of the year, so that number has to be steadily rising by now... nevertheless, it is certainly not something that that many will have in their collection.

For this coin you are looking at the reverse.(the side with the date) The first difference is the type of leaves used. Theses are the round kind. They're not really round, but the other variety is called pointed leaves. The leaves come to a very distinct point. These ones are muted or not quite as pointed (called round leaves).
Now look at the very top of the crown (still on the reverse side), I forget what its called, but the very tippie top of the crown. In the early years there used to be a bowtie(probably not a bowtie, but thats what it looks like). I think its in late 1909 they changed it to a cross. So in 1909 and 1910 you can find quite a few cross over bowties, BUT, not with the round leaves variety of 1909.
It still hasn't been certified yet.

October 21, 2010, 20:38, Torex October Auction...
ICCS VF30 1909 5c round lv, cross/bow tie sold for $3300 + $594 buyer's premium + taxes (~ $4300).
Yours may be a EF40...however, with more examples now known, the price might drop a bit.
Still a fantastic coin to have. Where did you find it? :)
I'd have that certified.

I really don't know where I got it. It was just stashed away with my collection until last year when this variety was discovered. I went through my stuff..and bingo, I found one. Yes, it will be certified soon.

Wow, impressive! This is a coin I have a chance finding here--very few dealers look for varieties.

This is a very scarce coin. I have one as well, not quite as high a grade as shown in the pick. There are about 10-20 now known. Whatever the number settles in at, it is a very scarce coin to be sure.;
