Here is another one that I am unsure of. I have seen mentioned in several places about the eyes of coins and doubling in them so I always look when I'm hunting. The eyes, nose and chin all have something going on....PMD MD or DDO? Hope fully the pics are good enough... Thanks for looking... Edited by Jayman931 07/09/2011 2:52 pm

I can't see doubling very clearly on this one.

The nose pic kind of looks like a hit, not sure about the others.

I guess if I would have seen just one of those "marks" on a coin I wouldn't have given it a second look...but I guess because I noticed the line on the chin, nose and the double profile line below the eye...I thought it might have been something...I'll try to take better pics..

The outside devices would help. It could be die wear/chipping of the die. The outside devices next to the rim would tell a lot more. If they are not normal and distorted from wear, that is what it is. Usually doubled dies are on the outside devices in some classes. There are doubled outline, but the devices appear very worn. So I'm guessing this is a VLDS die.

The eye doubling could be real doubling or could easily be damage or a fatigued die, but the split serif on the T is very promising to my eye. Are there any known doubled die obverses for 1963?

The notch should be an indication of increased size of the device. I'm not convinced yet that is what it is on your coin. You can see on IN GOD WE on your coin is deteriating into the rim. Sometimes a bag mark can make a notch. The notch should be present on a few other devices next to the one in question. I'm not seeing that.

I'm not convinced either way. I will say the "T" has split on the top and bottom

Same principle applies to doubled dies from different denominations.
