I think you mean 50 centimes. 2010 Krause catalog only gives XFine 0.10 and Unciculated 0.35 (US cents). I don't think yours quite makes the grade. Oh, and welcome to the forum. You have the Flemish/Dutch version, which says "BELGIE". This coin is very common. If you had the extremely rare French 1954 version, which says "BELGIQUE", the value would be in the range of some hundreds of dollars...

Several more mintage years are available with legend in French: Year - Mintage 1953 14,150,000 1957 10,562,904 1958 8,700,000 1959 19,670,000 1962 410,000 1963 2,550,000 Last two are less common. The coin was demonetized not much later. It became obsolete as the 10ct coin was withdrawn.
