I've been watching these 2007 Washington Dollars missing the rim lettering on ebay, and so far they're only going for 25-30 bucks a pop. But everything I can find says they're worth more than that out of the gate even in lower AU grades. I'm not really a huge fan of the Presidential dollars but is this coin worth having?

If the link doesn't work its ebay auction number 290584737181

That's about right on price if they're in MS condition. They sell for prices all over the place. I've seen PCGS MS-64s go for $75 and MS-66s for $125. It's a cool error, but it seems like it's becoming a very common one.

The best edge letter error I've read about was a 2009 Taylor that was dated 2010. The mint recalled 700,000 after one was graded by NGC. See the story here: http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis...ticleId=9545

I would say it is a worthwhile error to obtain if you like errors simply because of the uniqueness of it, edge lettering had not been used since 1907(UHR Saint-Gaudens $20) and then 1836 before that. It also has the advantage of being fairly inexpensive now, I admit to paying more than I should have for a graded example in 2007 but I still like it. I also own another raw example that was purchased for the current going rate. IMO, two of the best edge lettering errors are the Adams double edge lettering where the overlap is offset one letter so everything is doubled(EE PPLLUURRIIBBUUSS UUNNUUMM) and the Adams with normal and inverted double edge lettering.

I have 6 NGC MS-64 Washington MELs and 1 raw Washington MEL, both an Adams with doubled edge letter, but not the "Typewriter" style you show, and the normal/inverted lettering. Both are NGC MS-64s.

The best grades I have are a First Day of Issue PCGS MS-65 Washington MEL, a PCGS MS-66 Washington MEL and a PCGS MS-66 VERY weak edge lettering Washington. I like this error, if you can't tell.
