What do you guys recommend I come back and collect? I guess I can't really go wrong with collection some Silver? I am only 20 years old and I really want something fun to collect and will eventually be an investment of sorts down the road. I really like the "shiny" albums of coins, but I do also have a thing for wheat pennies.

Looking for any suggestions or help! I LOVE advice :)

If I was in your shoes...why not aim for Franklin halves? They are a short series, can be found in UNC for low premiums and they are a good silver investment coin.

My advice?
I suggest the lower cost silver coins....something like lightly circulated pre 1965 dimes, quarters or halves... build up with the common dates, then decide later if you want in on the coins that will cost you more than the silver content of the coin. This way you have a precious metals investment along with a historical coin collection. Worked well for me so far!

In addition to the Franklin halves set mentioned above, Washington quarters are a good set, and the 1932 to 1964 set is quite attractive. Many of the dates in the 1950's and 1960's and even the commons of the 1940's are available in BU for a small premium over melt.

Think I should store in a dansco, or what is the recommended way to store them in a nice looking fashion?

Normally if I build a set, I like to keep the whole set uniform. So If I go for BU, I try and make the whole set BU. Lol first coin I ran into, 1932 Washington in BU is 150$++

Some inexpensive BU sets are silver Jefferson War Nickels (1942-45) and the silver Roosevelt dimes. Even the short sets of Mercury dimes (1934-45) or (1941-45) are really attractive in complete BU sets. The short set of Washington quarters still has 61 date & mintmark combinations, the only really expensive coin in BU is the 1942S. This would be a good springboard to work on completing the set with the other 22 coins, if you are so inclined.

If your looking for something fun to collect then I recommend Lincoln Cent errors and varieties from roll searching, you won't get rich but it is a lot of fun.

If you like really shiny coins, try the American Eagle silver dollar series, especially the proofs..

Ya, I am thinking Franklin halves and Washingtons. They are the most attractive to me!

Another vote for Franklins. You could put together a complete set for $450+. You acquire a nice chunk of silver when it's trading in the #36 range. And Ben was a really, really interesting guy.

I have to agree with John1 on this one. Searching though pennies for errors are a lot of fun. Also just getting wheat pennies when they come up at your local coin dealer. I went though 1064 last weekend. Found a few nice ones.

I would reccomend pennies as well. You can put the whole LMC set together from roll searching. I save the coppers for their bullion value also. Hopefully someday they will lift the ban on melting...

I think searching through any denomination is fun...although you will have better lick with some over others.
Rest in Peace

Lots of Indian Head cents floating around, and even the key dates aren't an impossible dream for many. And you have to admit that the Flying Eagle cent, which usually is grouped with the Indian cents, is one handsome coin.

The Franklin half dollars are a good set to complete. I really like mine; it was the second defined set (one that has a definite beginning and end) that I completed, after the Eisenhower dollars.
