Normally if I build a set, I like to keep the whole set uniform. So If I go for BU, I try and make the whole set BU. Lol first coin I ran into, 1932 Washington in BU is 150$++

Some inexpensive BU sets are silver Jefferson War Nickels (1942-45) and the silver Roosevelt dimes. Even the short sets of Mercury dimes (1934-45) or (1941-45) are really attractive in complete BU sets. The short set of Washington quarters still has 61 date & mintmark combinations, the only really expensive coin in BU is the 1942S. This would be a good springboard to work on completing the set with the other 22 coins, if you are so inclined.

If your looking for something fun to collect then I recommend Lincoln Cent errors and varieties from roll searching, you won't get rich but it is a lot of fun. John1

If you like really shiny coins, try the American Eagle silver dollar series, especially the proofs..

Ya, I am thinking Franklin halves and Washingtons. They are the most attractive to me!

Another vote for Franklins. You could put together a complete set for $450+. You acquire a nice chunk of silver when it's trading in the #36 range. And Ben was a really, really interesting guy.

I have to agree with John1 on this one. Searching though pennies for errors are a lot of fun. Also just getting wheat pennies when they come up at your local coin dealer. I went though 1064 last weekend. Found a few nice ones.

I would reccomend pennies as well. You can put the whole LMC set together from roll searching. I save the coppers for their bullion value also. Hopefully someday they will lift the ban on melting...

I think searching through any denomination is fun...although you will have better lick with some over others.

The Franklin half dollars are a good set to complete. I really like mine; it was the second defined set (one that has a definite beginning and end) that I completed, after the Eisenhower dollars.

Thanks for the help guys, now where should I purchase them? Do you think I could hand pick very good Franklin's for 450 for the entire set?

I personally like to see a coin in hand before I purchase it. I would recommend that you visit a coin show, if that is possible. A coin shop would be a second choice, but your selection may be limited.
