This image was requested in the recent 1929/9 thread, but I thought it should be separated from it. Whereas the 1929/9 is a re-engraved digit, this one is a result of Machine Doubling damage (MDD). This is a variety that Zoell did not document, but I guess if he did find it, it probably would be catalogued as R67c. A very tough example to find, I snagged this one at this past winter Torex show, ICCS MS-64 Red, nice eye appeal on the entire coin. I should state now that this image is my intellectual property, you can use it for personal numismatic use only. Enjoy. Thanks for the picture SPP, very nice find and in a high mint state it is definitely a treasure to look for I'll be on the hunt for one now for sure.

Thank you SPP-Ottawa. Most do not appreciate MDDe, thus no added value other than numismatic interest. I will look through my coins too and report any findings.

A very nice example of M.D.D. I also collect coins with it whenever I can find them.
It seems that during W.W.2 that quality control at the Mint was not as tight and quite a few were produced in that era.

Ah, nice coin! I have one that's circulated, I'll try to post a picture tomorrow. (Nothing will top that picture in here on an MS coin, but it'll be interesting to see a second coin with the same variation)

This is mine. I thought they were the same, but turns out the doubling is is on top rather than on the side, so there's a slightly different coin :)
