So I collect coins and not bank notes, but I am not too ignorant to neglect old US bank notes. So I was at work (Outback Steakhouse) and my manager came up to me saying "have you ever seen a fake $1 before? check this out". I proceeded to say those aren't fake, look at the series, they are just old. He then believed me only because he knows I collect coins and I have showed him my silver finds from the register before. So apparently a server got paid for a meal from a customer who left. the girl went to my manager saying she got paid in fake money. Well later in the day the girl came back to me and was like "I still think these are fake but you can have them if you want, since you are a collector". They probably aren't worth much but I thought it was funny how everyone thought they were fake. I know nothing at all about paper bank notes but I could tell they aren't fakes. lol. but here they are, and they are crisp as ever and aren't really even folded down the center.

They are also consecutive numbers which I think is cool. anyways, my question is: what are silver certificates? what does that mean, are they different than regular bills? also since I'm here, what else can I look for in my cash register? and what exactly are star notes?

oh and are the ones I found worth anything?

those look in great shape and if those are both 1957 series, they should be worth just under $10 retail each. Being in sequence both together would be more

Those are very nice notes, obviously almost uncirculated looking at the conditiona and the fact that the numbers are sequential they should bring in the 25 dollar range if sold on ebay. I agree with the earlier comment someone else who knows nothing about currency probably grabbed them from their parents sock drawer or the family bible and decided they wouldn't be missed....I got new for them, whom ever they belonged to had to have known they were worth more than face value and I'm sure they are not gonna be very happpy!

Those were probably uncirculated before the waitress got them, keep them from being handled further by putting them in a top loading sleeve you can buy at any coin shop.

Thanks Nickelman, I was just about to ask how to preserve these. If I do get sleeves to put these in... where do you guys store your notes? The sleeve will protect them but where do you put them to keep them from getting bent and stuff. You collectors probably have binders and stuff? Sorry for the questions but I am a coin dude and don't know anything about notes.

Buy the rigid holder it will protect them from being bent. Cost is anywhere from a quarter to fifty cents depending on the dealer of course. You actually have to be careful putting them in the holder as damage can happen to the edges due to the tight fit.
