How do I find out what they are worth?

Also, in the same pile are a bunch of old coins that I think (emphasis on think) are from Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. [They say Newfoundland and Nova Scotia on them.] Are these coins actually from those places or is that like a canadian mintmark?

Those are 2 great coins and where they came from gives them special value to you. Hopefully they will spark your interest in coin collecting and you can join this group of hopelessly addicted numismatists and learn and share along with us.
