My mom found a 10 piastres coin in her change last week, which is sort of odd since Sudan is miles away from AZ.

Monedas, it is possible the 10 piastres is so similar in size to a local more valuable coin as to be able to fool at least some machines? In that case it will soon be imported in substantial quantities.

It is a very beautiful coin, thanks for sharing ....... there are two varieties of this proof coin the one Without countermarks with mintage number 1423 and AH1398 with countermarks of B23 in hexagon and bell between dates with mintage number 2000. To determine this you have to see the Obverse

Mine is with the hexagon & bell countermarks, making it the more "common" type.
