Hi,

Anybody seen this face before ?..It's not very clear though...just visible enough...for face experts here

And on the reverse...could that be the ear or God ?

Nope, can't make out the face there. The thing on the reverse looks to me like a cornucopia, but there's not really enough detail here to be certain about that, either.

Possibly a copper of Antinous (a "favorite" of Hadrian (117-138 AD) issued in Egypt c 135 AD.

Thank you all.

Houston..you think it's Antoninus Pius ?...but doesn't it look feminine a bit the face on the obverse I mean ?...I've never seen Antoninus with a similer facial expression before..the eyes...the prominent lips...he/has a surprise look.

Here's another pic sap :

OK guys, cut it out, or my head'll get so big I'll have trouble going through doors.

Houston's guess is a memorial coin for Antinous (also spelled Antinoos), the emperor's "boyfriend" who drowned in the Nile, not the emperor Antoninus Pius.

Sorry, I still can't see enough detail to tell anything else about it.

I did not know that Hadrian's boyfriend was called Antinous...Interesting. How was his relationship with Hadrian?..a serious one?....Maybe he pushed him and drowned in the nile because he was about to break up with him you know..Like he told Antinous while on a boat "hey Anto..turn around..check these beautifull birds flying"..then when he did..bang he pushed him...(Just a thought).

And bryan ...you might be skipping coins/rocks..that could worth alot.

you are absolutely right, but before I found this forum I would never call something like that a coi8n (I just never knew any like that existed) and if I would have seen one somewhere and someone was selling it as a coin, I would tell him I have a driveway full of them and he is welcome to all he can put in his pocket

It's hard to beleive these things are coins you know..i understand. Like if you have like a Britannicus sestertius which is worth like 20 k then you show it to someone on the street and told him"hey..have you ever seen a coin like that ?"..or "did you know that this coin is worth 20ks"..he won't give you much attention either...he'll think you're nuts..for thinking that this piece of metal is worth that much. You know there are treasures everywhere under people's noses...but they can't see them...it's unbeleivable sometimes "Yesterday's junk..is today's treasure"..saying is 100 % true.
