good price. Think that's about what I paid a couple of years ago. The dime is worth the price of the whole set. Many unscrupulous ebayers remove the W dime and sell the rest of the mint set.

What's wrong with that. Almost every proof & Mint set's coins are worth more each than as a set.

You make me feel as if I did something right for once - I just bought a singleton 1996-W dime, in the original cello package, in an online auction (not ebay) for $7.50!

I meant they sell the remainder of the 1996 set (P and D cellophane) claiming it it complete. The W dime is in a separate cellophane all by itself and can easily be removed. Buyers who don't know what they are looking for will see the P and D cellophane packs and think they have it all.

If you purchased a Proof Set, you didn't get a W dime. It was only included with the P&D Mint Set.

I bought the 1996w dime by itself a year or so ago and I paid 12 bucks for it. I thought I was getting a good deal because some dealers were selling just the dime for as much as $20. Now I realize that I should have looked for the entire mint set. I don't think I saw anyone selling the complete set at the time.

I believe there are other W mint mark coins, but they are mostly gold I believe. I suppose you could include this in a Roosevelt album, but I always thought proofs and Uncirculated sets needed to stay intact in their original packaging. but that's just me. I always objected to having the proof slots in the album as well.

I had a huge infatuation with this one dime a few years ago and went on an OCD buying spree buying every set(didn't buy individual coins) I could find that included this one dime (probably ended up with like 30 or 40 sets). I think its pretty cool and it seems they are going to keep the interest of collectors enough to keep the prices pretty stable
