Bidding just ended at $230.00 It makes me wonder what 8 bidders were thinking.Did they really think they were bidding on the big one or has Machine Doubling become that collectable

Amazing! Some people have too much money. Strange though, the seller only has 2 negatives but they are on guitars.

How could the seller think it was a 1969-S DDO? No way would I try to sell a coin worth thousands of dollars with an opening bid of 99 cents. As for the bidders, all they could see was Dollar signs. They had to think that no one was looking at a coin on ebay that was worth $60,000. I was watching it and it went from $150 to $230 in the last few seconds of the auction. I'd like to be a fly on the wall when the new owner finds out it's just Machine Doubling. Buyer Protection should give them their money back because the seller says it a DDO when it's not, but they have a limited time to complain. So what's that coin worth? Fifty cents? A dollar?

Uh-oh. Somebody just bought themselves a edumacation. As for the seller, if he thought it was the real 69-S DDO, woudln't he get it authenticated? He probably did get it checked out. "So what's that coin worth?" --what is says on the back?

I hope that I am not the only one who sent the seller a message explaining what his coin really is and that he/she should make it right with the buyer. Captain Ron ECP ( ebay Coin Police) I'm undercover

Lovely. Talk about getting taken to the cleaners... Just wait until the new owner sends it in to a TPG to be authenticated. Reminds me of a saying from an old-time dealer friend: "Some buyers have more dollars than sense." LOL

Seller replied to my note to him. He thanked me and stated he would make it right.

Wow--it's great hearing of people who chose integrity over a few bucks.

I don't think it is a DDO, check the mint mark = doubled. Here is a quote from coinsabout.com:Look for clear doubling of the entire obverse ("heads" side) except for the mint mark. If the mint mark is doubled, it is probably a case of Strike Doubling, rather than a doubled die, which isn't worth much. (Mint marks were punched in the dies separately in 1969, after the doubled die itself had already been made.)
