Hello, I hope these pics come out ok on this post. I have this coin in my Intercept shield album. I have had it for a few years but haven't looked at the album in quite some time. I am fairly certain this coin has been cleaned. I was wondering what other peoples thoughts are? Does it appear cleaned to you? What net grade would you give it if you believe it to be cleaned? Thanks very much, Bob

This coin looks pollished, vf 35 to xf 40.

Both Lady Liberty and the eagle look kinda flat chested, but shiny. This would indicate that the coin was buffed up. I would go with the VF-35.

VF details, rather harshly polished. Unfortunately, the net grade is all the way down at Good-4 after that degree of abuse.

It almost looks plated. I had a set (from ARCO gas stations - remember them?) called "Coins of Yesteryear" where they plated everything in the set to make it shiny. You could tell the coins were plated due to lack of details.

Wow!! Mike (ACE) The polishing would really bring it down to a G-4? What if the coin was carried around for a while to allow for natural aging. Would the grade be higher? KK

Need a better pic. Overhead light might help. Remove the plastic cover over the coin if you haven't already.

I don't believe it would net grade down to G4 but certainly the coin would only bring G4 money. A shame to ruin a low mintage coin like that

Yes, very sad indeed. This was an ebay purchase about 12 years ago. I wish I could remember what I paid for it and what condition the seller claimed it was in. I am sure I knew it was cleaned but have no recollection of the transaction. I am away but will post a pic out of the album. Some of the "shine" comes from the glare but it sure was buffed up pretty harshly. Darn shame since it was in decent shape to begin with.
